Champagne Cocktails!

Spread the love

I have a weakness for bubbles. I love carbonated water more than soda. I love sparkling wine more than most other wines. So it has to be the bubbles, the only thing they all have in common.Champagne!

I’ve seen Champagne cocktails before and heard them mentioned in books, but I’ve never tried one. So the other day while scanning through my Meyer Lemon saved Pins a cocktail called French 75 popped into view. After scrolling through it real quick I put Champagne on the list of things to purchase.

The Champagne- I bought the little bottles. I love these little bottles! You open one of the big bottles and you are committed to drinking it the next day before it becomes still wine.

French 75-
When I bought my little bottles the first time I didn’t buy the recommended type. For a classic French 75, it’s supposed to be brut variety, dry and unsweet, Champagne. I bought Spumante which is a sweeter variety of Champagne. Oh well, I made it work..
French 75

The Classic Recipe:

-1oz Gin
-1/4oz Simple Syrup
-1/2oz Lemon Juice
-Dry Champagne

My Version:
-2oz High-Quality Gin
-1oz Meyer Lemon Juice
-Spumante Champagne

Add Gin, Lemon Juice, and if using Simple Syrup to a cocktail shaker with a couple of ice cubes. Shake vigorously, and strain into champagne or wine glass. Top with Champagne and enjoy! Because I bought the Spumante Champagne I left out the simple syrup and I used Meyer Lemon Juice because I still had several on hand. Overall, it was amazing!

Kumquat Champagne

Kumquat Champagne Cocktail-
So I actually found this one over on Epicurios via Pintrest (of course!). I also cut the original recipe into 4th, as I didn’t have a group or a big bottle of Champagne. It was also easy and only a little time-consuming waiting for the kumquat to mix with the Grand Marnier. The next time I randomly buy kumquats I’ll have to remember to buy Champagne too, so I can drink this again.  Oh, and the little bottles of Champagne are the perfect size for 1/4 of this recipe!!

champagne-mojito

Champagne Mojiot-
Not sure where I first encountered this idea. Probable Pinterest, but I’m really not sure. Anyways, I had to go back looking for the recipe I saw, but after reading several versions of this recipe I settled on one uniform trend in them. The trend was, just take your favorite mojito recipe, and instead of club soda just use champagne! And that is exactly what I did! I took my standard recipe and just subbed out the club soda! Yummy and easy!

Classic Champagne Cocktail-
I got this one from my Cocktail book On a Saturday morning I beat the entire family out of bed, Shadow even went back to bed after going outside! So it was just me and my audiobook for 40ish minutes. So I made a champagne cocktail as champagne is a great breakfast drink; don’t burst my happy bubble. It was quick, simple, and good, all the necessary things for morning cocktails.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Sugar cube
  • Few dashes Aromatic bitters
  • Champagne; again the little bottle was a perfect size!

Add the Sugar Cube to the Glass and top with a few dashes of Aromatic Bitters, let sit for a few minutes. This lets the sugar dissolve and take on some of the Bitters flavors. Top off with the Champagne. Poor carefully! This will bubble up, so it’s best to pour it slowly down the side of the glass vs straight in.

Yum Yum Yum Yum!! This was fun! I enjoyed playing with the champagne and coming up with Champagne Cocktails in new ways outside of the standard Mimosa and Bellinis. Enjoy!
